Our Trail Angels returned us to where we left off in Kananaskis Lakes and we began the leg of the journey to Banff. We have concluded that the first 2 sections of the trail have a raw “fitness” element to them which included frequent and steep climbs over the rises of land while this section was the “spa”. So much eye candy and such smooth well used trails!! This was a vacation like no other!

The trail crosses a massive scree slope and follows the Palliser River to the Pass and then into the Spray River Headwaters valley.

Up to this point there has commonly been continuous rockwalls in this mountain range yet in this area they seem to break into individual mountains with separate peaks. The peaks surprise and confuse me as they change their shape as I change my perspective along the trail. I am awed again and again.

The water is clean, clear, cold and plentiful. Seldom do we need to filter or purify which is so rare nowadays.

This area is a World Heritage Site which brings a lot of people here. You can fly in by helicopter to stay at Mt. Assiniboine Lodge. Most humans are excitedly here to hike through for a few days. The advantage to this is the trail conditions are excellent!
