This 4.5 day section of the trail from Banff incorporated the famous ROCKWALL TRAIL! This trail would rival the WEST COAST TRAIL in popularity as seen in the number of hikers and hiking families doing it. The path itself is therefore well trodden and maintained but there are lots of obligatory daily greetings and meetings to add to your schedule. Interesting to note that in this stretch we saw zero large animal scat on the path which seems abnormal, however we did spy 2 sets of mountain goats munching their way along the high range- out of humans way.

This ROCKWALL TRAIL is easily accessible from Trailheads on Hwy # 93 south and most folks are excitably hiking a 3-4 day loop trip. Again the scenery is stellar with endless variations of mountain faces.

At Tumbling Peak the trail took us within such close proximity to its glacier- we got the zoom-in view without the camera.

As we made our way towards Field we left the busy route and found ourselves once more the only ones on the trail. We began to see some smaller wildlife scat again.

Our last night before hitting town for resupply we found ourselves alone at McArthur Creek warden’s cabin. We imagined ourselves the temporary caretaker and observed all goings on around us. Rest assured, we took our jobs seriously- things are looking good up there!
