GDT # 1: Packed-Ready to Start

Time has passed but we remain and we hope the same for all of you! We are headed back to the trail this time in CANADA!! We will begin the Great Divide Trail GDT in a few days. This is a trail that starts at the border of Montana and Alberta in Waterton National Park and ends north of Jasper Alberta. There have been wildfires in the past few years that have altered or closed sections of the route in places however, alternate trails have been created … the trail goes on. It follows the Continental Divide- the spine of the Rocky Mountains- as it traverses between Alberta and British Columbia making it way north (some 1100 kms). It is not as easy a trail and so we are packing heavier than ever with wet and cold weather gear and bear barrels and bear spray. Canada is a land where you are likely to confront Grizzlies and Cougars and Marmots. We are coming prepared!
