PCT First Leg: Mile 0 – 110 Border to Warner Springs

Well we are on our way! Little bit by little bit. After 6 hiking days we have arrived at our first resupply in Warner Springs California. We have cleaned up, washed clothes and are now able to catch up with communications as we lay around in our hotel room. Tomorrow when the Post Office opens we will collect one of many resupply boxes (food, toiletries, misc.) that we sent to ourselves from Tehachapi.Several things have surprised us on this trail so far. We thought that there would be the 50 hikers who were given permits per day starting off from the monument but to our pleasant surprise far fewer are showing up. It also surprises us how many fellow hikers come with little to zero experience! People buy all the gear and wing it! Ah! The romance of the trail! The best part is the condition of the trail itself is surprisingly gentle with gradual slopes up and down and around the mountain sides. I know further north this changes but at the start the PCT has been easy on  us. Here is a map of the whole trail. The finger at the bottom shows the start point. As you can see there is plenty ahead of us.
