Jobie loves everything about water – he loves to find all the springs listed (even if we have enough water) as he likes to carry always a bit too much water and he doesn’t complain when we carry our nightly supply of water uphill for miles with him muling up the bulk of the extra 20lbs. He is water insecure and that is why he loves our water filter! We have a MSR Guardian which is expensive ($400 Cdn- MEC) and it is the heaviest filter of any being carried on the AZT at a little over 1 lbs. Most hikers are using the Sawyer straw ($30 US) which connects to a Smart water bottle and filters the cow poop puddles that we have to supply from at times. Our MSR filter can clean both bacteria as well as material matter where the Sawyer is solely a material filter.
