We move through the flat lands sprinkled with Saguaro cactus up to 8,000 ft which is the smoothest 5,000ft elevation gain we have ever done! Then transitioned to the graceful grassy flatlands.
We came across a dead coati which is similar to a raccoon. More info can be found HERE.

We have heard coyotes at various nights at sunset. Once on a high grassland area there were groups of coyotes yelping from each direction surrounding us- almost in chorus! Enchanting!
One night in the flat cactus plains I heard some snorting and snuffling just outside my side of the tent. While Jobie slept on , I was listenly intently and turning my flashlight off and on trying to figure out what this beast was. It suddenly ran behind our tent and was gone. Locals have since told me it was a javalina. Right on I say! These pig like animals like to eat prickly pear cactus. Check them out HERE.

There are lots of bird life that I am attempting to get to know by sound as I find it hard to spot them in the sun. There was a desert burrowing owl that showed itself to me from under a rock overhang this week. Cheeky looking diurnal owl!
No snakes are out yet but tis the season!
A handful of mule deer or white tailed deer have been spotted as well.
